The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Aerospace Recommended Practice ARP1400B establishes requirements for lubricating oil filters for general aviation reciprocating engine applications with lubricating oil systems normally operating in a pressure range of 345 to 689 kPa (50 to 100 psig). This specification defines uniform parameters for the design, manufacture, and testing of filters for general aviation lubricating oil systems for aircraft-type piston engines.

Interchangeable Heights
Champion oil filters feature interchangeable heights for custom installations, allowing operators to select the optimal filter size for their specific aircraft installation requirements. Shorter filters provide easier access in tight engine compartments, while taller filters maximize filtration capacity for extended oil change intervals.
Wide Aircraft Compatibility
Champion oil filters are FAA-PMA approved for use on Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, Cirrus, Mooney, Diamond, Commander, and numerous other general aviation aircraft equipped with Lycoming or Continental engines. Aircraft engines not listed but equipped with oil filters at overhaul may accept Champion filters.
Continental (TCM) Engine Applications: Champion filters CH48108-1 and CH48109-1 are designed for Continental engines. Aircraft requiring service bulletins SEB-93-1 or MEB 93-1 require Champion Oil Filter CH48108-1. The CH48109-1 may also be used if clearance permits installation. Textron Lycoming supplies converter kits for engine installations requiring adaptation.
Lycoming Engine Applications: Champion filters CH48103-1, CH48104-1, CH48110-1, and CH48111-1 serve Lycoming engine applications across the general aviation fleet. These filters provide comprehensive protection for Lycoming's extensive range of four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines used in training, personal transportation, and business aircraft.
