Your European Source for Piper Aircraft Barry Engine Mounts
|
Airpart Supply is an approved factory distributor and stockist for Hutchinson Aerospace Barry Engine Mounts, serving Piper aircraft operators across Europe from our Dublin warehouse. Hutchinson Aerospace (formerly Barry Controls) has been the industry leader in aircraft engine vibration isolation since 1943. Barry Mounts are FAA/PMA approved engine vibration isolators specifically engineered for Piper aircraft, from the classic Cherokee and Warrior through to modern Archer, Arrow, Saratoga, and Seneca models. These premium isolators use advanced silicone elastomer technology to effectively dampen engine vibrations, reduce structural fatigue, minimise cabin noise, and protect sensitive avionics equipment. Each complete engine isolation system consists of four precision-engineered isolator assemblies designed for your specific Lycoming or Continental engine installation. With competitive pricing and express delivery from our EU warehouse, European Piper operators can access genuine Barry Mounts without customs delays or additional import duties. Barry Mounts Technology: Advanced Vibration Isolation
Barry Engine Mounts represent over 80 years of vibration isolation engineering expertise. Each isolator assembly consists of two precision-moulded silicone elastomer assemblies, a steel spacer, and a large diameter washer. This robust four-component design provides:
Superior Vibration DampingEngineered silicone elastomers absorb harmful vibration energy across a broad frequency range, protecting airframe structure and extending component service life. |
Cabin Noise ReductionPrevents engine and airframe vibrations from traveling through the structure, significantly reducing cabin noise and improving passenger comfort during all flight phases. |
Avionics ProtectionReduces vibration-induced stress on sensitive avionics equipment, improving reliability and accuracy of navigation and communication systems. |
Structural IntegrityMinimises metal fatigue in engine mount structures and surrounding components, reducing long-term maintenance costs and enhancing aircraft safety. |
Why Barry Mounts for Your Piper Aircraft?
Piper aircraft operate in diverse conditions from flight training through to cross-country business aviation. Barry Mounts deliver proven benefits for Piper operators:
Extended Component Life
Vibration is the enemy of aircraft components. Barry Mounts significantly reduce vibration-induced wear on magnetos, ignition harnesses, fuel system components, and electrical systems. Flight schools operating high-utilisation PA-28 Warrior and Archer aircraft report measurably improved component reliability after Barry Mount installation.
Reduced Maintenance Costs
Lower vibration levels mean fewer premature component failures. Piper operators commonly report reduced troubleshooting time for intermittent electrical issues, extended spark plug life, and decreased frequency of avionics repairs. The initial investment in Barry Mounts pays dividends through the aircraft's service life.
FAA/PMA Certification
All Barry Mounts carry FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA), ensuring they meet or exceed original equipment specifications. European operators benefit from EASA-accepted installations supported by comprehensive documentation including FAA Form 8130-3 Authorized Release Certificates with full traceability.
Direct Replacement Installation
Barry Mounts are engineered as direct replacements for original equipment mounts. Installation follows standard procedures during engine change, overhaul, or scheduled maintenance with no modifications required to engine mount structure or firewall attachments.
Complete Piper Aircraft Barry Mounts Application Guide
This comprehensive compatibility table covers the complete Piper aircraft range from vintage models through current production aircraft. Each engine installation requires four isolators as noted, with some configurations using mixed mount types for optimal vibration characteristics.

Installation and Maintenance Guidelines
Replacement Recommendations
Hutchinson Aerospace recommends replacing Barry Mounts at each engine overhaul to ensure maximum protection and performance from the vibration isolation system. Over time, exposure to engine heat, vibration cycles, and environmental factors can degrade elastomer properties. Fresh mounts provide optimal vibration isolation characteristics and extend the service life of newly overhauled engines.
Inspection Intervals
While Barry Mounts are designed for long service life, operators should inspect engine mounts during annual inspections and progressive maintenance checks. Look for signs of elastomer deterioration including cracking, hardening, excessive softness, or separation from metal components. Any mount showing these signs should be replaced immediately regardless of time in service.
Installation Procedure
Barry Mounts install as direct replacements following Piper maintenance manual procedures. Each four-isolator system includes steel spacers and large diameter washers. The spacer preloads the elastomer during bolt torquing to optimise vibration control properties. Always torque mounting hardware to specifications in your aircraft maintenance manual. Never reuse old mounting hardware - install new AN hardware with each mount installation.
Storage and Shelf Life
Barry Mounts are manufactured using high-quality silicone elastomers with excellent ageing properties. Under MIL-HDBK-695 and ISO-2230 standards, silicone compounds maintain their properties for 20+ years when stored properly. Store mounts between 40-80°F (4-27°C), away from ozone sources, direct sunlight, and high humidity. Each mount includes an embossed cure date for inventory management and stock rotation.
Piper Aircraft Models Using Barry Mounts
