Improved Nut WeldsNut welds are designed to be stronger than the can itself - during production testing, nuts are actually ripped away from the can and the base metal must fail before the welds. This means no more frustration with installation nuts falling off. Improved TCM By-Pass ValveMeets the Continental Motors by-pass specification of 12-14 psi, reducing the risk of premature bypass that can result in unfiltered oil flowing to your engine. The PC Housing design prevents restriction of the oil outlet should a by-pass valve failure occur. Burst Strength of 600 PSIImprovements to the roll seam process have increased the design burst strength to over 600 pounds per square inch, exceeding the ARP 1400 standard by 50 percent. This provides added assurance for the harshest operating conditions. Spin EZ Solid LubricantThe proprietary Spin EZ solid lubricant allows for easy removal of the filter. Unlike oil, grease, or DC4 compound that leave the filter seemingly bonded to the engine mount pad, Spin EZ lubricant will not extrude or squirt out from under the seal. |

Over the years, aviation oil filters have evolved with different height options to help with installation in tight spaces. The designation system is straightforward:
Non-Dash FiltersThe original full-height aviation oil filters. These provide the maximum filtration capacity and are recommended when cowling clearance permits. |
Dash-1 FiltersA shorter version designed for aircraft with limited cowling space. Provides excellent filtration while fitting in tighter installations. |

While Tempest recommends using taller oil filters when space permits, their shorter filters still provide more than enough filtration coverage when replaced at the recommended intervals of 25 to 50 hours.
